The brand was founded in 2000 by Roger Marion, Canadian network technologies and software specialist in Montreal. At that time, the company collaborated with outstanding brands such as BMC Software and Lavalys as a product development partner.
Initially, the Computools focused on developing products, encompassing both hardware and software aspects. However, with changing trends in technology and market dynamics, the Computools brand was reoriented. We decided to become a service company with a deep understanding of the hardware, which remains a unique competitive advantage till now. We continuously nurture deep programming knowledge and a profound understanding of what happens “under the hood” of technical solutions.
Our early partnership with BMC Software and Lavalys exposed us early on to international markets and global innovation, setting the foundation of professionalism and customer care that define the company today and influence future strategy.
Today's Computools, as Software Development Company, was started in 2013 by Sergii Tymchuk, Grigoriy Shadara, Oleg Svet and Viktoria Stepanova in Ukraine, Zaporizhzhya.
In our early years, we worked with startups from the USA, UK, and Canada. This is how we met Roger Marion, who later became our first advisor and then transferred the rights to the Computools brand.
In 2014, we experienced substantial growth and launched key software development projects. By the end of 2015, the company's workforce had increased by 49%.
In 2015, we opened offices in the USA (New York) and UK (London) to be closer to our clients and moved HQ to New York.
In 2016, we made significant growth in its team and branches. This year was crucial for expanding the range of services, working with like minded startups, and developing projects based on the Internet of Things. We started working with industries like Healthcare, Finance, and Media, expanding its expertise in these areas. Our team expanded more than twice, by 135%.
In 2017, we began to work not only with startups, but also with businesses, including large enterprises. We successfully completed major projects, like a proactive cartridge refilling solution for Epson, digital transformation of a major Caribbean Bank together with IBM, created a virtual fitting app for Dior and transformed flight documentation management for Bombardier. The number of our projects increased tenfold compared to the previous year.
We opened in Tel Aviv (Israel), Lodz (Poland), Kyiv and Dnipro (Ukraine).
In 2018, we accomplished key milestones in business, completing complex projects like Keller Covered, delivering interactive and intuitive insurance purchasing tools for real estate. We added large global brands to the customer list. We opened offices in Norway (Oslo) and Sweden (Stockholm). We again increased the number of active projects, leading to an expanded team. This year was marked by a significant increase in the number of vacancies in our company, with the quantity of employees growing by 152%.
2019 was a year of expansion and recognition for Computools. We achieved high rankings in various lists, including Top Software Developers, Web Development Companies, Mobile App Development Companies, and more. We acquired CMS Games LLC, and by the end of the year, the number of employees increased by 24%.
By 2020, we opened offices in Warsaw (Poland).
In 2020, Computools was recognised as one of the top companies in the global outsourcing industry in "The 2020 Global Outsourcing 100" by IAOP. This award marked our contribution to technological innovation at WorldTicket, Homesearch, Metrycom, British Council and BuzzFeed among others.
The same year, we faced a significant challenge due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In March and April 2020, it lost approximately 60% of its turnover. However, even in these difficult times, we supported our colleagues. Within 3-4 months, we managed to recover part of the lost turnover, and we returned to pre-crisis levels by February 2021.
In 2021, we opened offices in Brussels (Belgium) and Berlin (Germany).
The same year, we were certified according to the international quality management standard ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001.
In 2022, we relocated most of our Ukrainian employees from Ukraine to our Polish offices and established new branches in Poland, including Wroclaw. Our company's workforce expanded by another 45%. We opened up offices in Japan (Nagoya) and Austria (Linz).
Additionally, we made it to the 2022 Global Outsourcing 100 list, compiled by IAOP, underscoring our high standards and ability to provide reliable solutions to our clients. In 2023, we were again honored with this award, confirming our position as a leading outsourcing provider.
In 2023 Computools is confidently looking into the future, having improved our services portfolio. We continue to remain at the forefront of technological achievements by adopting new technologies and introducing them into the client innovation programs.
